Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Wines

Pierre-Yves Colin, is the eldest son of Marc Colin, a grower who was admired for his magnificent wines at his eponymous estate in Saint-Aubin. Since the mid 1990’s Pierre-Yves lead his father’s domaine and started crafting a series of marvelous vintages that also brought attention towards himself — a young Pierre-Yves at the time.

Around 2003 Pierre-Yves, together with his wife Caroline Morey, decided to start a journey of their own. With their inherited family vineyards they formed their domaine: Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. Today they own a total of 11 hectares of vineyards, divided between different villages around their domaine in Chassagne-Montrachet. Already Pierre-Yves’ first vintage had an immaculate precision and finesse which has just grown over time with the progression of vintages and experience. Ultimately, with the creation of their new cuverie, the wines have reached an even higher level. This development allows Pierre-Yves to work more comfortably, giving the wines a longer elevate and everything that comes with it: more relaxed, precise and layered wines.

Pierre-Yves posses an extreme attention to detail which takes form in his meticulous vineyard work and extends to his gentle touch in the cellar. Here the wines naturally takes its course: natural fermentations, minimal racking, no bâtonnage, long élevage in large demi-muids barrels and minimal use of new oak. For any decision that Pierre-Yves takes, there is an utterly painstaking process towards absolutely balance, health and harmony.
